New Play Exchange Recommendations from May and June

July 5, 2018

Even without the National New Play Network challenge, reading plays on the New Play Exchange is a great time. Which is why I didn't stop recommending new plays after April! I'm not putting the same amount of time in– as I have almost no time because of kids and the cruelty/joy of summer vacation– but I wanted to share the plays that I have read and recommended because I want people to read and then produce these plays! Preferably near me! Okay, here they are….

Plays recommended in May:

The Book of Will by Lauren Gunderson - one of my favorite plays I saw in 2017!
Women Wear White by Lindsay Adams
HOMER by Stephanie Alison Walker
i by Jeff Talbott The Totalitarians by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb

Plays recommended in June:

Duck by Sheila Cowley
american kids by Emily Kaczmarek
Look At Me by Susan Westfall
Becky's Christmas Wish by Ashley Lauren Rogers
Birthday by Jeff Bouthiette
FLY, BABY by Gina Femia
GHOST LITE by Justin Warner
The Bar Mitzvah of Jesus Goldfarb by Andrew Heinze
Melto Man and Lady Mantis by Eric Pfeffinger
Newtown-Lantana by Rachael Carnes
Complimentary Wifi by Rachael Carnes
McIntosh by Steven Hayet
Janine by Jennifer Kokai
Singing to the Brine Shrimp by Jennifer Kokai
Pause by Ricardo Soltero-Brown
El Yunque in English by Nelson Diaz-Marcano
POP POP WAS A WAR HERO by Gina Femia
Mother's Milk by Nelson Diaz-Marcano
/ärt/ by Steven G. Martin
To Be An Invincible Woman by Dayna Smith
Tag on Toe by Elana Gartner
Something Profound by Emily Hageman

So I had a bit more time in June than May, it seems.

Anyway I hope the list above convinces you how worthwhile it is to get a New Play Exchange membership! And if you already have a membership, be sure to check these plays and playwrights out!

Happy Thursday everyone!
