Beyond thrilled and over-joyed to announce that Burst was named a finalist(!!!!!) for the National New Play Network‘s 2022 Showcase! This was my first year I was able to have a play considered, you need an NNPN theater to nominate your work (shout-out and huge thank you to Alicia Washington and Camille Washington at Good Company Theatre for putting Burst forward!), and I am flabbergasted to have made it so far. What is also flooring me is the other finalists! What a mighty group to be included in! I cannot wait to read and/or see these plays:
Burst
by Rachel Bublitz
Hairy & Sherri
by Adrienne Dawes
All My Mothers Dream in Spanish
by Alexandra Espinoza
American Fast
by Kareem Fahmy
The Day Naguib Mahfouz Was Stabbed In The Neck And Almost Died (a.k.a. The Selkie Play)
by Denmo Ibrahim
Eleanor and Dolly
by Jenny Stafford
SOPHIA HAYDEN DESERVES BETTER
by Stephanie Alison Walker
Still working hard on getting Burst out there for a world premiere production, or, my secret dream, a Rolling World Premiere with NNPN! I encourage you to give it a read! Pass it on to any theater artist you think would have an interest in it. I would appreciate it to the moon and back!
The National New Play Network's 2022 Showcase will be hosted by Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 10 & 11. The amazing plays selected are:
performing class
by Preston Choi
Welcome to Matteson!
by Inda Craig-Galván
Escobar's Hippo
by Franky Gonzalez
A Queer Black Rom-Com for Eastertide
by Jonathan Norton
BITE ME
by Eliana Pipes
Will be adding those to my read/see list too! A hearty congratulations to all of those selected, and to my fellow finalists!
Happy Monday!
