Original art by Elizabeth Jackson.
One of my best friends growing up lived two streets away from me. It was one of those situations where opposites make a great pair: one quiet reserved artist, one loud obnoxious drama nerd. back when I used to write (awful) poetry, we dreamed of her illustrations and my poems being published together.
We reconnected a few years, and found out that we're both still creating. I told her about my plays, my book (!), and she told me she's still drawing and painting, and working to become an art teacher. Then, I got the best surprise in the mail, she sent me this incredible original piece inspired by Cheerleaders VS. Aliens! Isn't it gorgeous? When I was getting it framed it was so hard to pick a frame, because every color looked incredible. Maybe instead of poetry and illustrations we should team up and play around with a graphic novel?
Huge thank you to Elizabeth Jackson, I'm so glad we are back in one another's lives!
Happy Friday!
